Ease With Openings
My journey can be so arduous. One challenge after another. It can wear me out!
Does it Have to Be So Hard?
“Life is struggle.” “No pain, no gain.” Yes, life does have its struggle and pain. We are here to learn and grow and experience life. Struggle and pain can give us forward momentum in our journeys. Facing challenge builds our strength and self-knowledge. Challenge can make us better and lead us closer to our dreams. It is the sand in the oyster that creates the pearl.
However, there is always room for joy, fulfillment, and pleasure in our lives. When it comes to Openings, there are ones we can handle with ease. They can open doors to happiness, dreams come true and new adventures that we welcome into our lives. Openings can be as bright as the sun and bring us to wonderful places in our lives.
Openings do not have to be hard. Life is life. Seeing Openings clearly for what they are helps us move forward with ease. Our perspectives and expectations can delude us. If we want everything in our lives to be wonderful, we are disappointed when challenges arise. If we think life is only struggle, that’s usually what we get.
The Nature of Openings
An Opening is an invitation to go somewhere new. An Opening may come in the form of an insight, a dramatic change, a person we meet, an expansion or contraction in our life or a new opportunity. It can be related to mind, body, emotions or spirit. What is wrong with this? Not much. Openings come in many varieties, not all good and not all bad.
Openings are tailored to our individual journeys. They offer opportunities to advance in our lives. They ask us to grow and change. For our society, therein lies the problem. We don’t always welcome growth and change. We are seldom prepared for what they bring. Our society does not value growth and change and often tells us we stay safe by avoiding them.
Why not embrace Openings for everything that they are? This takes strength, but also opens the way for us to take full advantage of them. We can create a new perspective and new expectations. If we struggle, that’s okay. If there is some pain or fear, that’s okay too. They are moving us forward. Openings also bring joy and positive change, and we can celebrate when they do.
Change of Mindset
Ease with the Openings in our lives may require a change in mindset. We can begin to look at all Openings as bringing desired change and growth in our lives. We welcome this change and growth as essential to our journeys and our fulfillment in life. Here are some ways we each, individually, can begin to change our mindsets.
- Look back at the difficult times in your life. Did any good come out of them? Where did you end up when they were done – was it a good place?
- Has challenge ever created a change in your values?
- Are you stronger from experiencing change and challenge?
- How did your mindset develop resistance to change and challenge (influence of others, experiences you had, belief systems influencing you?)
- Do you believe you can be fulfilled and happy in your life? Do you embrace change that gets you closer to this?
- Do you find change and challenge stimulating? If yes, why? If no, why?
- Can you get to a place where you embrace change, challenge and Openings? What do you have to do to achieve this?
Flow
We can develop a sense of ease as we encounter and move through Openings. It begins with acceptance of the true nature of our lives and journeys – to grow and change and become better and better. Openings are a key in this. They come into our lives benevolently, not threatening us at all. Our choice to see them for what they are and move through the ones that call us, improves our lives.

Surrender helps us develop a sense of ease with Openings. Surrender, in this sense is powerful. It is seeing and fully accepting what surrounds us – the present reality of our lives. It is the best starting place. We proceed from a place of truth, rather than delusion, resistance, or fear. From there, we can create a new reality for ourselves with the help of Openings.
In doing this, we create flow. We see the presence and true nature of Openings in our lives and journeys. We embrace some and bypass others according to our interests. We see Openings as allies. We enter into the flow of life and we thrive!
Yes, I can change my mindset. It could be hard at first, but I see that in the long run that I can create my own sense of ease with Openings. That will be nice.
