Obscured Openings
I know what I must do and can’t seem to get there. Where is the Opening??
Our Own Distractions
There are many things that are not in our control. We may be searching for an Opening. We are waiting and wondering where the Opening is and it is right in front of us. We don’t see it because we are distracting ourselves. For some most likely unconscious or subtle reason we don’t want the Opening to appear. The barrier between us and the Opening is of our own devise.
Say we have gotten ourselves into a tough situation and it is long time to get out of it. We have created chaos around the situation. That chaos is obscuring the Opening. How do we do that? There are lots of ways. Why do we do that? Likely there is a reason why we do not want to let go of the situation we are in. Sometimes we can drift into a distraction and other times we go into one willingly and enthusiastically.
We may distract ourselves as an escape. We may be in overwhelm. What we are doing may be boring. We may not want to face the situation we are in. Distractions, sometimes, can foster our creativity, but many times they do not serve us at all. They need to be limited in nature and duration. Distractions are okay in small doses but can be very destructive if allowed to grow and endure, when there is something important to be done.
How We Obscure Openings
There are myriad ways we can obscure Openings. We may fear what awaits us or taking a next step. We may be in resistance, trying to stop ourselves from going forward. We may have created chaos and the chaos is muddling our thinking. We may keep ourselves unfocused, so we do not have to face an Opening that brings change or asks us to stretch in a way we have not before.
Balance is something we all strive for. Balance among our mental, emotional, spiritual and physical selves. When we get unbalanced among these aspects of ourselves things can go awry. Not taking care of ourselves physically can put us into a state where we can easily obscure an Opening if we want to. Our emotions can take us on a wild ride, obscuring everything in our path. Our minds are great at playing tricks on us. Overthinking can greatly muddle our perspective.
It is a natural human emotion to not want change. Change can be uncomfortable. There is the presence of the unknown. We know that Openings bring change. So, if we are in a situation where an Opening appears or is needed and we don’t want to face it, we have ways of obscuring the Opening. We often are very inventive and colorful in finding ways to obscure an Opening!
The Opening Is There
When we find ourselves in an unwelcome situation, either by our own or others’ doing, there is usually a way out. And that way out often comes in the form of an Opening. The Opening is waiting for us. Nothing outside us is stopping us from finding it. We may need courage and strength or to get out of our own way. It serves us to assume an Opening is available to us and that we can find a way to it.
How can we find an Opening? First, we must balance and center. This helps us regain our perspective. Then, we can take a good look at what is happening. We can focus on finding our way out and look for an Opening. We may have already seen the Opening but have obscured it. We can then begin to find our way to the Opening. We may be surprised by what we already know about getting to the Opening, once we have cleared the way.
➟ Looking for an Opening? Let’s do some coaching and find it together!
With a perspective that an Opening is usually awaiting us when we find ourselves in a difficult situation or are looking for a change, we smooth our way to finding it. With a commitment to maintaining balance we are ready. With being sure to keep ourselves focused we realize we know the way. With developing an understanding of our own fear and resistance, we eventually see when we are obscuring an Opening.
Finding The Opening
To continue our journeys, we have must find the Openings that await us. There’s nothing worthy in standing still for too long or through too many Openings. Obscuring Openings usually is our own doing. Getting away from obscuring them and finding our way to the Openings that are beckoning is the way to go.
There it is – the Opening that I thought wasn’t there actually was there all the time!
