Going To the Root

Making the choice can be challenging when a radical Opening is involved. There’s a big difference between incremental and radical change. We could say that incremental change is the tortoise and radical change the hare. We have choice on whether to enter a radical Opening and if we do, get ready for a ride!

If we are to make significant life changes, radical Openings are usually involved. They are leaps and can take us long distances. Our choice to enter a radical Opening involves serious consideration on our part. Radical Openings often require us to develop new perspectives and skills that we have not encountered or used before. They offer us major shifts that that can alter our entire lives, going to the root of our existence.

It makes sense that radical change requires going all the way down to the root. Sometimes surface change is what we need and an Opening presents an opportunity for that. Our choice to enter is not as weighty or demanding as that of a radical Opening. But radical Openings have a different nature. They flush us out down to the end of our roots and fundamentally alter our lives.

Fundamental Change

Radical Openings address our individual journeys and where we may need to go next. They could involve making radical changes in how we live and view our lives, take care of our bodies, interact with others, how we work in the world, the direction we go in or what we consider to be our fundamental values. Radical Openings are saying to us that big change is needed and they will show us the way.

Radical Openings spur fundamental change. They can be self-propelled – we set intentions or make changes and an Opening appears. Or they could come upon us unexpectedly, possibly upending our lives or presenting a difficult choice that we may or may not have been anticipating. Either way, they are in front of us and we have a choice to make.

Navigating Radical Openings

Whether we enter or not, we must navigate a radical Opening. Navigating radical Openings is its own path. A choice is before us. How do we make that choice? We give it the time it needs. We bring our best to making it, as we know its impacts will have consequences for us. We take it seriously because whether we enter or not, we are altering our lives.
