Moments of Peace
Will I ever have some peace?!
The Flow of Ups and Downs
Our lives go up and down and up and down physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. However, we sometimes harbor the illusion that life should be steady and not have these ups and downs. That’s not going to happen. Lynn Andrews used to say that earth is a schoolhouse – we are here to learn. The ups and downs strengthen and teach us. Accepting this serves us.
With Openings, we experience ups and downs. Openings appear and have an immediate effect on us. Then, we make choices whether to enter them, causing us to look carefully at our lives. And that is just the start. Our choices can create ups and downs in themselves. Within the Openings we enter, ups and downs abound.
Best that we create a flow within these ups and down. We can do this by acknowledging their existence and understanding their presence in our life journeys. Perhaps we can enjoy the ride. To do so, we must accept their jolts and challenges. To flow with them, we stay flexible in our expectations and actions, knowing that the terrain may change at any time.
Keeping Balance
Balance is dynamic, as opposed to static. Ups and downs create a ride for us, not unlike a roller coaster. Imagine being on a roller coaster and expecting to be on an even surface throughout the ride? If balance is dynamic, we need to keep our balance through the ups and downs. Balance secures us for the roller coaster ride of life.
When balanced, we achieve a state of harmony that creates moments of peace. We are aligned, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Within and without we have a sense of where we are and, in the present moment, can navigate whatever is happening centered and in control of ourselves. Our judgement and reflexes are working with and for us.
When we find ourselves out of balance, say due to the surprise of an Opening appearing, we may find ourselves unsteady, even faltering. That’s natural. The key is to find our balance again. There are ways to do this – getting fully present to the moment, stopping and calming down, screaming (just kidding!), relieving stress by breathing steadily, meditating, exercising, calming ourself or journaling about where we are.
Finding Peace
Finding peace is essential to our well-being. When we find a moment of calm, our bodies release stress-reducing hormones that help to promote better emotional, mental and physical health. Being at peace enhances our ability to make better decisions and find solutions. A calm mind is more productive and able to think logically, resulting in good choices and decisions.
Inner peace results in better relationships and communication. We are not coming from an unsteady place. We have a sense of ourselves and can respond to what occurs, rather than hastily react from an unbalanced position. Peace enhances our productivity and creativity and enhances our focus and ability to concentrate. Finding peace helps us grow – in self-awareness, self-reflection and understanding.
Acknowledging and cherishing moments of peace leads to overall fulfillment in our lives. Even small moments of peace matter. They break up the cacophony of our world. We deserve them but often must make them ourselves. They even out the ups and downs. We get a chance to breathe and appreciate our lives. There are many Openings to find and create moments of peace.
The Holidays
They’re here! It’s a perfect time to seek moments of peace. Perhaps we take time to relax or to contemplate. Perhaps we remove ourselves temporarily from the rush of the holidays. These moments of peace will nurture us and make the holidays happy.
Yes, I will find moments of peace as I learn to flow with the ups and downs of life.
