On The Eve of an Opening
Looking back…..
THE OLD YEAR
Old? Is the year really over? In linear time it is, and we have little control over that. The clock strikes midnight tonight and the year is gone. It may not be gone in our minds. Or our hearts. However, we are beckoned to leave it behind.
How was last year as we look back? Did we move through it consciously? Was it kind to us? Was it challenging? Did change show its face? Looking back and examining 2025 serves us.
Here are some questions to consider.
- What have you accomplished in 2025?
- What did you do right?
- What did you let go of?
- What did you learn in 2025?
- How has your perspective shifted in 2025?
- What Openings appeared to you?
- How did you stretch or evolve?
- What gave you energy? What drained it?
- What do you have to be thankful for?
- What is left incomplete or unsaid?
- How will you celebrate all you did and experienced in 2025?
The New Year
2026 is here tomorrow. Like a wind coming in. A fresh beginning, if we allow it to be so. We cannot stop this wind. We can try to hide from it or ignore it, but that won’t last for long. We are beckoned to accept it.]
Can we form our aspirations for the new year? What do we want to remain and what we want to change? What do we look forward to in 2026? Giving attention now to 2026 serves us.
Here are some questions to consider.
- What will make 2026 an ideal year?
- What do I want to be different in 2026?
- What is most important to me this year?
- What do I want to accomplish this year?
- What will I commit to?
- What changes are needed to do so?
- What is one creative project I will pursue this year?
- What will I let go of this year?
- What will I bring into my life this year?
The New Year is an Opening
The new year is an Opening of the biggest kind. Our society puts great attention on the change of year. We are to look back, look forward and, in some ways, begin anew – doing so creates an Opening. This Opening can change our lives, if we enter it with courage, intention and commitment.
Looking at the change of year as an Opening puts our focus on our lives and what we want them to be. The new year Opening is largely self-generated. The changing years presents it. It is our choice to recognize the Opening and create it. Let’s not pass it by.
What will this Opening be for each of us? What do we want 2026 to be?
I’d love to hear about your past year and the one to come. Let’s connect.
Closure
On this New Years Eve, let’s provide some closure for 2025. It is going away. We lived it. We made it. We can say goodbye.
….. and embracing the year to come.
