What Will This Year Be?

At the start of any year, much is unknown and anything is possible. We can have some say in what 2026 will be by deciding how we want to be in it and what we want to focus on. What can we each set our sights on? What do we need? What do we want to do? What do we want to let go of? What do we want to bring into our lives? Now is the time to do this.

In Chinese astrology, February 17, 2026 is the start of year of the fire horse. Sounds powerful, doesn’t it? The horse is associated with independence, action, freedom, and charisma. This is an animal that is not easily tamed. The horse thrives in environments where it can roam freely and pursue passions without restraint. However, as powerful and spontaneous as horse energy can be, it can also be impulsive and unpredictable. How do we ride the year of the fire horse? If the energy is as it is predicted to be, we are in for a ride. Better saddle up. Will the Openings we encounter this year have this energy as well? Will they come upon us quickly and leave the same way? Will they ignite our passions and power and take us on a swift ride?

How have we each started out this year? Dreaming of what the year will be? Resolutions? Goals? Intentions? Centering? Looking forward? Hanging in as best we can? Staying present day-to-day? We have opportunity, as the year begins, to set our focus and identify our intentions. That is a fortunate place to be. Time is on our side. Let’s seize the moment.

Centering Ourselves for the Year Ahead

How do we center in a time of unpredictability and sudden pivots and changes? Here are some suggestions. We must create a place of peace within ourselves. An ability to quiet ourselves when facing stress and fear. This place becomes a place of refuge for us to calm ourselves and recenter. We must identify now what we need to thrive and make it through what could potentially be a tumultuous year.

This year could also be one of great strides and positive change. They will ride side-by-side with challenges. We can move with the speed of a fire horse, focus on what we want to accomplish and have strong intention and commitment. Clarity is essential – of where we are going and in encountering obstacles and Openings that present themselves.
