Confusing Openings

An obscured path in a forest with sunlight streaming through

I have no idea where I am going in this Opening. I can’t see a foot ahead of me. This is unsettling.

Where Is This Opening Leading?

It happens. Sometimes we have entered an Opening and our way is not clear. We want to be on a path and setting out in a direction. We want a sense of where we were going (or thought we were going) when we considered and then entered the Opening. We made the choice to enter, but now are not sure where it is taking us. Our mental, and possibly emotional, clarity is not there. It disorients us.

We are not sure where we are and want to figure it out. How do we? A first step is to stop and get ourselves firmly in the present moment. What are we feeling? Where are we in relation to the Opening? What are we looking for? What is the source of our confusion? Not being able to see what is in front of us? Feeling unsure of where we are going?

When things are obscured, it can be beneficial. Think about this. We have made a choice to change in whatever way the Opening offered us. We were ready for this change, unhappy where we were or needing something more. Whatever our motivation, we are on our way to something new. We are no longer on a worn path. We are creating a new path as we go along. That’s what is involved in change.

Sitting In the Unknown

The unknown is such a powerful presence in our lives and in the Openings we encounter. When we are in the unknown, things can be confusing. Our society tries to create a sense of safety and security. In the process, it denies the existence of the unknown. Society says follow our dictates and you won’t have to deal with the unknown. We will tell you where to go and what will result. This is a fantasy.

The unknown is always with us. Having total control of our lives is an illusion. The unknown is part of life and always will be. It is important for us to recognize its presence. Otherwise, we are in a make-believe world. What good does that do for us? Recognizing the presence of the unknown in our lives allows us to make good choices and find our way.

What do we do when we are on a path and the way is not clear? If being in the unknown is making an Opening confusing, we shift and embrace its presence. In doing so, we see a true picture of where we are. We take one step at a time, look around us and, from the present moment, decide where to go next. We do not need to see everything ahead or know our final destination. That will come as we proceed steadily and in the truth of where we are.

How do you do in the unknown? Do you have questions? Want some tips on thriving within the unknown? Let’s talk!

Moving Towards Clarity

Timing is a factor within the unknown and change. It’s a tough one. Our feeling of confusion unsettles us. We don’t know how long it will last. We are uncomfortable within it. However, perhaps things are not yet fully aligned for us to take full advantage of the Opening. Other things must be in place. In the meantime, we get more comfortable within the unknown.

Let’s replace the word confusing with this phrase: moving towards clarity. It shifts the energy. It recognizes that the way is not yet clear and keeps us in action. It implies that we are investigating what is before us, observing our journey within the Opening and continuing on our way. Possibility lies before us. Do we really have to know every step we will take before we take it?

Patience is called for as we move towards clarity within an Opening. Patience and acceptance. We do not know all the factors influencing our journey within the Opening. The best outcomes may take time. There may be important things we are to learn along the way.

Breakthrough

One thing we can count on is that an Opening will take us somewhere if we stick with it. We will grow. We will have an adventure along the way. We may be happily surprised at where we end up. What a cool place to be.

Wow, I never could have predicted where this Opening was heading. I’m glad I didn’t let the journey unsettle me. This is a great place to be!
