The Times We Are In

In Opening Blog, we often look at the change, challenge and chaos of these times. Is it overkill? It may seem like a lot however, these are the times we are in. So many aspects of our lives and world are in turmoil – politically, personally emotionally, environmentally. We are being asked to cope with turmoil but have the opportunity to grow and change because of it.

We are in a Chrysalis of sorts, with an old world dying and a new world struggling to be born. We don’t know what this new world will be and we see the old world crumbling before us. This brings upset and uncertainty. In such times fear arises, as the world we once knew is no longer our foundation. We are not sure where we are or where we are going.

Different times call for different approaches. We release the old and embrace the new. In these times, a lot comes along with this. Polarity has developed and people are solidly in differing camps – on what kind of change is needed and how to make it happen. There is tension, a lack of understanding others and manipulation by those using this time to their advantage.

Openings

How do Openings fit into these times? We are in a significant transition. Openings now may be opportunities beyond personal growth alone. They are bridges from old to new. In this time of change our needs center on making it through what is happening and evolving to something new.  By choosing to enter Openings we may get what we need to thrive in this transition.

Perhaps Openings we encounter now are meant to bring us to the next level of our existence. Say we are struggling with releasing the old. An Opening could present an opportunity for a new circumstance that brings us squarely into the new. Or, an Opening could beckon us when something significant in our life has collapsed and we have no choice but to move forward to something new.

We can shift our perspective on Openings to how they can help us navigate change. We’ll be making our choices and navigating them in the midst of a hurricane. We’ll have to harness the energy of these times and make it work for us. We’ll have to be strong and courageous. If we can do so, Openings may propel us to where we want to go. They can be our allies.

Making The Most of Now

Here are some thoughts on making the most of these times and of the Openings that appear for us.

• Acknowledge that we are in a challenging and different time.
• Establish a “point of view” that helps us navigate. Perhaps, this is a Chrysalis leading to creation of a butterfly.
• Identify what we want to release that no longer serves us and what we want to bring into our lives.
• Do things that build our strength and courage.
• Be alert for Openings and realize they may be of a different nature.
• When an Opening appears, assess what it can do for us and where it may bring us, in the context of our world today.
