Profound Change Before Our Eyes
The world is undergoing a major shift. Are we seeing it?
Witnessing
What we are experiencing cannot be denied. Cataclysmic changes in our ecosystem due to human interference. Polarity becoming sharper, separating us from each other. Social shifts in how we see ourselves and others in terms of diversity and gender. Attempts to change the roots of how we govern ourselves. Technological changes that promise to affect our lives in so many ways. Uncertainty about our future, with few indications of what is to come, even if we try to predict and say we know.
To what extent are each of us seeing these shifts? There are so many possible responses – denying them, fighting them, being fearful of them, staying away from them, fostering them through our own actions, trying to preserve what was or working to create a new world. Our response to the shifts acknowledges their existence and the effect they are having on us and our societies.
We can put ourselves in a place of witnessing. Witnessing involves a level of detachment. Stepping back and looking with our own eyes at what is occurring in the world. Witnessing can bring clarity and a wider view. It also can prevent the forces of change from taking us on a ride without our consent.
Witnessing is a magnificent skill that can help us in many ways. Coaching to develop and maintain this skill can make your experience of change so much better!
Beyond Openings?
Is this profound change a series of Openings? A Ione big Opening? Or something more? Our usual concept of Openings is not a perfect fit here. Certainly, Openings are present (how we choose to handle specific changes). Perhaps this is a series of huge Openings creating a force by which society will be reconstructed and transformed.
Where does this force come from? It derives from how we have lived, the energies we have created, new energies entering our world, profound changes occurring and the loss of what was. We did not invite this per se. We created it through new discoveries, perceptions and ways of being. It may also have come from forces unseen – we do not know its full origin.
This force, at times, is relentless. It is building its power. It is not mandating a specific outcome; more it is moving us out of where we have been. Can we truly acclimate and find our bearings within it? Can this force be countered or must we flow with it? How can we influence or direct it?
Responding
Here are some thoughts on responding, in our power, to the profound change we are experiencing:
- Witness and observe the change around us to develop a perspective on it.
- How do we see what is happening? How is it affecting us? How do we want to be during this time?
- Think about the positive things this change can bring.
- Develop our strength and confidence to endure this time.
- In the face of change, release what no longer serves us.
- Identify what good things this change can bring into our lives.
- Create a purpose for this time. What outcomes are we going for? What is our role?
Finding Peace
Can we find peace during this time? Absolutely. The calm inside the storm is there. We can create it or find it. Acceptance is a start. Change is happening and will affect us. The world is unfamiliar. The safety we may have felt is no longer there. We do not know the outcomes of this change. At the same time, possibilities are in front of us, we have a say in outcomes and can make our voices heard. We can use this change to make things better. We can say no to fear and yes to a better world. It all asks a lot of us. We are up to it.
May we thrive through this change, stay strong, be creative and make this transformation a positive one!
