A Time With No Openings

There is nowhere for me to go. I want to move forward, however I am standing still and can’t figure out how or where to move.

No Clear Path

Our society is often on the move. In the pandemic, that has eased a bit. However, we are still focused on action as the way to productivity. We want to be in motion because then we can see the progress we are making. Openings do not appear just because we wish them to. Sometimes, there truly is no path and nowhere to go.

Seeing no Openings or a path ahead is uncomfortable for many. What are we to do? Stand still? We compensate and may try to push ourselves onto a path. Our minds take over with lists of what we can do. Often that pushing leads us nowhere and we end up back where we were. Or, it leads us somewhere we would rather not be.

When no path is clear, perhaps it is time to stand still. Yes, stand still. There are things to be gained in stillness. We quiet ourselves. Our minds and hearts can balance. We can restore from endless activity and recenter ourselves. We can smell the roses! We may see and experience things that we could not when we were in motion.

Reflection

Reflection is an important aspect of our journeys. We ignore it at our peril. Pausing allows us to collect ourselves and look around us, while being fully in the present moment. Our minds can quiet and function at their best. There is no frenzy or multi-tasking or stress.

Reflection allows us to be quiet and naturally balance the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of our lives. From that balanced place, we do our best reflecting. We can calmly look at where we are and start thinking about where we might want to go.

➟ My Coaching For A New Era program creates space for you to reflect on the changes you are experiencing and think about where you want to go next.

Reflection allows us to connect with our intuition and hear what it has to say to us. Often, our intuition can sense Openings before we do. As we reflect, without anxiety about when we will get moving again, we can see possibilities and calmly wait for a path to appear.

Timing

Timing is a tough aspect of our journeys. It is seldom fully within our control. How can we “make” a path appear? We can anticipate and prepare, but we cannot force. No matter how much we will something to happen, it may not come. We certainly can will things into existence, but is that the right thing for us or just a manifestation of our discomfort and need for control?

Our journeys have their own timing, which we are not always privy to. We all have experienced when the “perfect” thing shows up out of nowhere and surprises us. And we have experienced what seems like endless waiting, demanding our resilience, until the right path appears.

Our minds and timing are closely intertwined. Our minds may want to “get on with it” but our circumstances are not cooperating. This can lead to anxiety and missteps. We must learn how to quiet our minds so that they can center with the rest of us and recognize when the right path appears.

Trust

Central to all of this, we must trust. Trust is not at all an easy thing to do, especially in the face of uncertainty. We must surrender to the right timing of our journeys and trust that a path will appear. As we develop the ability to trust, we become more comfortable and the rhythm of our journeys becomes more familiar.

Trust will come with focus and experience. As we focus on trust, we slow down and accept the present moment as it is. In the present moment, we can let go of fear and anxiety more than we are able to when we focus on the past or the future. As we practice trust and experience its rightness and power, we are better able to accept the timing of our journeys.

Trust asks a lot of us. It also gives a lot back to us – peace of mind, comfort in the unknown, peace and eventual wisdom. Trust is a big part of our journeys – it develops our resilience and allows us to sit in the true reality of our journeys. Trust is essential to finding our next path.

I am feeling more comfortable now even though I see no Openings before me. I know there is a reason why I am not moving. There is something for me to do in this quiet place that will allow me to move forward!
