Staring At Openings

There is an opportunity in front of me. I want to take my time. There is so much happening now that I do not think I have the space to focus on it the way I want to. Can I just wait, or will the Opening go away?

Take Some Time

Acting from our center serves us. This means being fully present to what we are doing and making sure our actions align with our true selves. Sometimes, it takes time to bring ourselves to center. We have to quiet ourselves, especially our minds. We have to let go of what is preoccupying us otherwise and bring the Opening into focus.

We don’t always have to hurry when an Opening appears. The Opening is there for us and we can figure out our timing with it. This does not mean ignoring g the Opening or putting it off. It is about relaxing and giving the Opening its due. Then we can make a considered decision regarding whether we want to walk through the Opening.

Slowing down aligns our mind, body and spirit. Slowing down helps you gain clarity. You see the whole picture and what the Opening involves. Focus becomes easier when we aren’t distracted or in a rush. It reduces stress. It prevents our emotions from running wild. It improves our physical well-being. Taking some time lets us better see the Opening that is before us.

Assessing

Once we have slowed down, we can start looking at the Opening before us. We can see the whole Opening and how it relates to our life. We can consider the changes it may bring to our life, what it will ask of us, if it aligns with our values and what we want in life. We can also look at how it came to us. Did we pave the way for it or is it a surprise?

Here are some factors to consider when assessing an Opening:

  • What is the Opening offering?
  • What do I have to do before I can walk through the Opening?
  • How will my life change if I walk through the Opening?
  • What will be asked of me if I walk through the Opening?
  • Do I want to walk through this Opening? Do I have any fear of doing so?
  • Is anyone else involved in this Opening? Will walking through it change my relationships  or circumstances?
  • Am I excited by the Opening?

Knowing When to Move

“Timing is everything.” Knowing when to move asks us to have a good relationship with time. Time is finite. We have 168 hours in a week – that’s it. However, if we change our relationship with time we begin to “flow” with time and things become easier. We start getting things done. We eliminate energy drains and decrease our stress.

How do we change our relationship with time? We can start by observing our present relationship with it. Do our expectations of what we can do in a day match the time we have available? Are we frequently stressed because we don’t have enough time? Is our multi-tasking inefficient or ineffective? Do our minds frequently go into overdrive?

Knowing when to move into or away from an Opening is a skill to cultivate. Timing can be tricky – not jumping in too soon or waiting too long. When the timing is right, things flow. Unless we have resistance that is interfering. Recognizing and releasing our resistance and fear clears the way for us to make our decision.

There Are No Set Rules

When it comes to Openings there are no set rules. Each of us has an individual and unique journey into and out of Openings. We must develop our abilities to take advantage of the Openings that present themselves. It involves so much – timing, discernment, decision-making, trust and courage.

This is the hero’s journey – moving ourselves forward with purpose, recognizing Openings, learning and growing. If we sit and stare at an Opening for a while, better for us. Our eyes adjust, the Opening becomes more familiar, and our choices serve us.

I am going to take some time to stare at the next Opening that presents itself. It may be fun!
