Opening To Nesting
The start of a new year is about intention, movement and visible progress. Why am I so quiet and contemplative and not in a doing mode as 2023 begins?
The Importance of Going Within
Life requires balance. Going within is as important as any other aspect of our lives. It quiets us, bringing us back to ourselves. It connects us with our center. We can gain insights that are not possible to reach in a busy world. We find momentary peace. Going within brings us to our best selves – the part of us that can set a course for our lives that serves us and puts us on a path of purpose and fulfillment.
Going within requires withdrawal from the hubbub of life. It asks us to get to know ourselves inside and out, so that we are able go within without anxiety. It asks that we see ourselves as needing both doing and being in our lives. It requires us to be at ease with ourselves – our wins, failures, shortcomings and strengths – as all of these can be addressed and worked on within.
We can invite or create an Opening by quieting ourselves. Going within provides open space for insights, ideas and innovation. We are more approachable. We are in touch with our senses. Our minds are quiet, and our hearts can open. We go within into another cosmos, away from our everyday world, leading to new perspectives on our lives. Openings can appear with ease within our quiet space.
No Set Timing
We have just begun a new year. Our culture says jump into action, set our resolutions, get going. That’s the push we feel. But this is not a mandate. We can do whatever we want at the start of a year. We can set our course organically according to where we are, what we are experiencing and what we want for the year. As we do, we can discern if going within is the best way to get where we want to go.
How do we discern what is right for us? Here are some things to consider:
- Are we clear on where we want to go this year or are some pieces missing that need to be identified?
- Do we feel ready to get into action and confident in our plan to get where we want to go?
- Does the energy feel right to go within or to jump into doing?
- Can we let our individual circumstances guide us rather than try to meet the expectations of our society for beginning a new year?
➟ Want to do some coaching together on what’s right for you to get where you want to go in 2023? Let’s talk and make it happen. I’d love to hear your story and your dreams for 2023.
The Times We Are In
The world is experiencing a lot of turmoil and chaos right now. Going within could be just the right thing for us, as could getting into action We need to take this into consideration as we set out into a new year. A lot of doing could catch us up in the whirlwind of this turmoil, getting us nowhere. Going within could pull us off a productive path of doing. Our discernment of this is essential to a productive 2023.
It could seem counterintuitive to go within right now. We may feel that the world needs our action more than ever. We may be pulled by the established norms of our society that push us into action as a new year begins. We must release these things and find out for ourselves what is best for us.
In some cases, our contemplation may be the best thing for the world. The challenges we are facing need innovative solutions, insights and calm attention. Going within has equal value to action. It is a matter of choosing what is best for the circumstances that surround us. When a bird is nesting there is quiet and calm. And what is the result? A new life is born!
Allowing
So, as 2023 begins, we can each take some time and decide how to begin the year. All options are open. Do we want to nest and go within? Are we ready to get into action? Really, there are no rules, only individual choices that we think are best for us. Allowing ourselves to make this choice leads to a 2023 that brings fulfillment and dreams come true.
Nesting feels just right for me right now. I’ll create a year that matters by starting with some calm, quiet and going within.
