Here I go into 2024. What will this year bring?

 A Change in Year

 So much comes along with the new year. We leave 2023 behind at the stroke of midnight and celebrate the start of a new year – 2024. We’ve just been through the holidays and all they bring to us. Now our thoughts turn to what 2024 will bring. Will it be a good year? What do we want it to be? What can we do to make it so? How did we do in 2023? What do we want to remain the same? What are we ready to let go of?

The nature of a new year involves so many things – hope, uncertainty, dreams, goals, resolutions, trepidation, intentions, looking backward and looking forward. The way the new year holiday has evolved for us it is cast as a fresh start, a new beginning that we can all take advantage of. It is also considered a time to improve our lives and to release what no longer serves us. A new year grabs our attention and focus and has us looking closely at the condition of our lives.

We can make Openings a part of our transition from one year to the next. It is Openings that move our lives forward and present opportunities for change. We can look back to the Openings that moved us forward in the past year. We can focus on the kinds of Openings that will move us now in the direction we desire. Doing so helps us find clarity for how we will create what we want in the new year.

Consciously Looking for Openings

Why not start looking for Openings as the new year begins? Some are already here. Some we only see hints of. Others, we may try to actively bring into our lives. We can begin with developing clarity on what we want the year to be. What kinds of Openings will get us there? What do we need to put in place? Are there new relationships we need to build? New skills to develop? How can we be ready?

Clearing out the old is necessary to make room for the new. What do we want to release and how can we do it in a timely and compassionate way? Release can be challenging. It is hard to let go, especially when what we want to bring into our lives is not here yet. It requires courage and a level of comfort with uncertainty. As hard as it can be, we cannot move forward without release.

Here are some ways we can start looking for Openings:

• Create a set of goals that excite us. Identify some steps to take to move in that direction.
• Look for opportunities that can move us closer to our goals. Keep a wide perspective – Openings that appear may not be what we anticipated or that make sense, at first.
• Explore any Openings that appear. Stay acutely aware so we can see them.
• Place ourselves in a variety of environments and situations so that, if Openings are trying to reach us, we will be where we need to be to see them.
• Stay focused on finding Openings that will move us forward.
