Staying Steady
I am so scattered these days and am not getting the things I want to done!
Distraction
In challenging times, our attention can easily stray. When it does, it is often hard to get it back. Challenge and change unsettle us. Distraction is a way to flee. The change we are going through now, on so many levels, is monumental. Beyond this change, we are experiencing quite a bit of chaos and upset of the status quo.
Distraction amid challenge is like losing our footing in the middle of a storm. If it goes on too long, it can be dangerous. It causes us to neglect important things as well as the things that move us forward. It scatters our brains and diminishes our effectiveness and efficiency. It can be a slippery slope that we best hold ourselves back from.
Openings do not go away in challenging times. If we are distracted, though, it may be harder to see them and make good choices. Distraction dulls our minds and senses and puts us at a disadvantage. We tend to miss things that are right in front of us. Our memory dulls. We are not engaged in the present moment. We lose focus that can be hard to regain.
The Energy
Amid the change we are experiencing, it can be hard to get a handle on what is happening. There are twists and turns, false starts, jolts, uncertainty, new things we have not experienced before and loss of things we once knew well. We are no longer on steady ground and we do not know where this is leading. It is a tough place to be and staying centered is not easy.
This energy is chaotic and confronting. Some of us are upset by it. Many are trying to find ways to cope – staying away from the news, self-nurturing, getting active on things that matter, distancing from it, finding support in family and friends or supporting others who need our support. We are all trying to stay afloat as best we can.
Can you use some help staying afloat in these times. Coaching can help!
It behooves all of us to stay aware of energy and its effects on us. We need to be aware of our emotions and what our minds are doing in this energy. We need to stay aware of our physical body and if it is reacting to stress or uncertainty in negative ways. We need to understand energy, how it affects us and those around us. Unsettled energy can create chaos that influences our actions and reactions.
Staying Steady
Openings can be strong allies as we experience change and challenge. They may offer things that we need to make it through this time. Openings lead us forward. In this energy, they involve leaps of faith as the road ahead is not clear to us. We win when we can stay aware and see the Openings that are before us.
We need to pull ourselves together in a big way to stay steady. That’s something to focus on – how to grow and make it through these times. We need discernment – what to do and what not to do – and to watch out for distractions, interruptions, unproductive side trips, losing hold of our emotions or letting our minds pull us into overthinking or anxiety. Chaotic and challenging times have a strong pull on us and it is harder to stay centered during them.
Staying steady requires strength and balance and getting comfortable with the unknown. It needs to be foremost in our minds and hearts until this energy passes. We need to stay aware and present to what is happening around us. We need to nurture ourselves and acknowledge that we are going through a transition from old to new and what is coming is not known to us yet.
Resilience
A lot of this comes down to our resilience. An endpoint and the timing of this energy is not evident. We are being challenged and things are being upended. Resilience, strength and courage will get us through.
Staying steady will be challenging, but it seems like a good way to make it through this time.
