Small Slits

I have been taking a class on releasing things which no longer serve me. Doing what I need to do is so challenging. I cannot even see the Opening that I know is there.

Difficult Journeys

Some journeys ask a lot of us. To get through the Opening these journeys present we are required to change in big ways. We may be asked to shift a pattern that we have had all our life. We may be asked to look fear in the face and proceed. We may be unsure whether we can make it through the Opening at all. We may not even see an Opening before us, but we know it is there.

For many of us, the nature of our journeys varies, over time, from easy to impossible. We are not always walking an even, smooth path. Sometimes, we are walking through a field of beautiful wildflowers. Other times, we are climbing a steep mountain in a storm. These different terrains bring the different outcomes that we need to grow.

When we are able to accept the varying nature of our journeys, we are ready to handle the Openings we encounter. Each time we sense an Opening, we know we must see it as unique to this time and circumstance of our life. We can begin by sensing the nature of the Opening. What is it asking of us? Are we ready? What do we need to do to walk through it?

What An Opening Is Asking of Us

An Opening may come in the form of an insight, a dramatic change, a person we meet, an expansion or contraction in our life or a new opportunity. It can be related to mind, body, emotions, or spirit. An Opening asks us to transform from what we are when we first see the Opening to what we can become on the other side of it.

An Opening beckons us to change and grow. It appears because we are ready and provides a gateway for our transformation. An Opening is magical in that it is not always expected or of our own making. We create Openings by continuing our path with courage and not walking away from our life’s journey. Openings often come in unexplainable ways in their own timing.

An Opening asks for our attention. It is a marker in our journey. To enter we have some preparation to do – understanding what will get us through the Opening and getting those things in order. It is asking us to choose – to stay where we are and not walk through the Opening or to enter the Opening and make it through to the other side.

Getting Through An Opening

What does it take to walk through an Opening? It takes awareness, persistence, resilience and openness. Once we recognize that an Opening is there, we must get familiar with it. Why has it appeared at this time in our journey?  How do we perceive the transformation that it is offering us? Is this something we want in our lives?

Once we begin to consider and walk through an Opening, we are always supported – just like the allies who appear in the Hero’s Journey. it is important that we learn to access and say yes to that support, especially for the more challenging Openings.

There is a certain type of Opening that can be very challenging. They are like small slits that we must go through. There are very specific and challenging things we must do to make it through the Opening. We don’t have much room to move in and they ask a lot of us. We must avoid missteps, use the right timing, and open to things we have not opened to before. They ask for our mastery before we can enter them.

We Have Transformed

Once we say yes and find our way through an Opening, we are transformed. The very act of recognizing, preparing, and walking through an Opening has changed us. The Opening has fulfilled its purpose in our journey – we are further along on our path.

The “small slits” Openings in our journey are often the most significant ones. They ask a lot of us and are bringing us to a place that has specific requirements to enter. They only let us in if we meet the challenges they present and have a strong desire to do so. Once through, we are deeply changed.

I am just going to keep going. I have identified things that no longer serve me that I must release. I am daunted by the process of doing this, but I will persist and prevail.
