Pieces of Openings

I don’t get it. My life is moving but I don’t know quite where it’s going. I’d like some clarity. 

Not Every Opening Is Complete

We like certainty. Without it, we know only where we are presently and not what lies ahead. We must continue and trust, taking one day at a time. We surrender. If asked where we are going, we cannot say where, only that we are walking forward with intention and eventually will know our ultimate destination.

Many Openings take us to specific places or states of being. Our choice whether to enter such Openings has some clarity. Do we move to a new place or stay where we are? Do we take on a new challenge or direction or not? Do we end a relationship or let go of something that does not serve us? In these Openings, although not everything is known, we have a sense of our destination and that propels us on.

Other Openings are not as clear. We do not have a full sense of what they are offering. They require us to choose whether to enter them without having a full picture of where it is we are choosing to go. They are incomplete. We make a choice and have some sense of the Opening however a lot remains unknown. We enter the Opening in good faith and eventually will see where it is taking us.

Our Journeys Are Taken Step-by-Step.

One foot in front of the other, our journeys are taken step-by-step. Pieces of Openings can comprise a step. Who are we to say what a step can and can’t be? Sometimes, facing an Opening, we can see a bit of what lies ahead. Other times, we barely see beyond the Opening. This makes our journey interesting. Pieces of Openings may be just what we are ready for. Or their timing is just right.

Deciding whether to enter pieces of Openings brings us fully into the present moment. There is nowhere else to be. We have a limited view ahead of us so cannot look towards a destination. By staying present, we make the best choices no matter what kind of Opening we are facing. No distraction, just what is. We also get comfortable with uncertainty because our choice is made without a full picture of the Opening’s purpose.

How often do we have certainty when we are choosing whether to enter an Opening? Certainty may be an illusion. Sure, in some cases we can see a distance ahead of us, but we cannot be certain regarding what will occur in the future. Change is a constant in our lives. Best to acknowledge this and act accordingly when we are choosing whether to enter an Opening.
