Faster and Faster

I feel faster and faster energy around me and wonder, how can I keep up?

The Pace of Things

Sure, things are speeding up, but it seems to go beyond speed to a different rhythm of life. Things that once worked, no longer do. The results and impacts of thoughts and actions seem to come much faster. There is not time to acclimate; the pace has quickened. It’s like we are now travelling at warp speed. New ways of being and mental concepts are called for. It’s almost as if the pace we knew is gone – poof.

The show Star Trek, often focused on the concept of warp speed – traveling faster than the speed of light. Are we seeing an acceleration in our lives? Is a new relationship with time called for? We still see 24 hours in a day, but why do things seem faster? There is so much change. Change is coming at breakneck speed, both in the world and in our lives. We think, live and experience faster than ever before.

A major change is artificial intelligence (AI). It has been around for a while, but with the Chat GPT breakthrough it is everywhere now and we are being bombarded with news of it. It holds promise and problems and brings out our hopes, fears, wonder and concerns. It may very well bring humanity into a future that is very different from anything we could have imagined, impacting all of us and every one of us directly.

What to Do

Much of the speed and energy of the world is beyond our individual control. To start dealing with this, we can raise our awareness of what is occurring. There’s no point to nostalgia and looking back wistfully at what was. It is gone. We can look to the future to help us acclimate. However, there is no certainty about what is to come and it is foolhardy to think there is. Best that we stay present, aware and discerning, as our world moves forward.

Here are some ideas on living well in this time.

  • Take stock. Spend some time and thought on how the world is affecting us individually, at this time.
  • How does the future look from here in the present? What do today’s changes portend for us?
  • How do we feel about the change that is occurring? Do we feel we can thrive within it? What obstacles do we see? What works in our favor?
  • How is what is happening in our world and the wider world affecting us? What can we do if anything is unwelcome or unwanted?
  • Accept the pace and change of today’s world. Let go of resistance and make it work. Find the best way to thrive withn it.
  • Whether it is learning, warning, supporting, reaching out or dropping out, find our place in the world as it is.

This can be a very exciting time for all of us. As we open our minds and hearts to change, we see new experiences, possibilities and are energized. Key is letting go of any fear of the new. Fear is a natural response for humans but does not serve us. Keeping pace with life serves us and allows us to thrive. We must build our spacesuits to live in this new world that is emerging and make the most of it.

Openings

Where are Openings in all this? Are they changing too? Openings move us forward in our journeys and our journeys progress in the world as it is, not in the past or future. The nature of our Openings will change as the world does. Will they come faster? Possibly. Will they help us acclimate to the change that surrounds us? Probably. We need to stay aware and embrace what new Openings are offering to us.

Openings may be moving faster, as well to help us keep pace with the change that is occurring. Will Openings require a faster response from us? Will we need to change in order to take advantage of them? Will we need new perspectives and skills to understand what they are offering? These are all questions that are worth asking.

Transforming

Transformation is the bottom line. In the process of Chrysalis, we think of the cocoon as a place of stillness. It is far from still. Within the cocoon is conflict, death, birth, growth and radical change. Sound a bit like our world?

Okay, beam me up Scotty.
