This is too much. The world is changing rapidly before my eyes. How can I keep up?

Doings In the World

Change at warp speed. So much is happening in our world – at a pace we have not experienced before. It is affecting all levels of our existence – globally, locally, economically, among countries, individuals and institutions. Each day brings something new. It is an alien world for many. Long-held concepts and perspectives are being shattered before our eyes.

Is this what happens during Chrysalis when caterpillar and imaginal cells battle it out? Intensity, polarity, decline, confusion, fear, unknown and surprise. It is said that within the cocoon a kind of soup forms of caterpillar cells dying and fighting for their existence and imaginal cells trying to survive and form the butterfly. There is no settled form. What was is going out and what will be has yet to fully form.

Clearly what we are experiencing is a major transformation. It is one big Opening for all of us. An Opening that came upon us, rather than of our own creation. Our choice lies not in whether we enter it, we are in it, but how we respond to it. We can embrace it (not an easy thing to do!), hide from it, deny it, try to understand it, find ways to weather it or try to thrive within it.

Shock and Reshaping

Some of us are feeling shocked at the changes confronting us. We have yet to get our bearings. Others are being tossed around by this Opening and are trying to find their footing within it. For others, it is a major disturbance affecting them mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Some are in denial not only because of the Opening’s intensity but because the Opening is so unfamiliar.

This Opening is changing all of us – confronting our sense of the world, our belief systems and our security. So much is being rearranged. Some welcome the changes brought by the Opening but still are feeling its strong impact. Others are resisting the change the Opening brings, either wanting to go back to what was or looking for an alternative to what it is bringing for the world.

This reshaping is rapid. We do not know its full nature or its timing. The status quo is threatened and what will replace it is unclear. What will emerge in this Opening? What will perish? How will our lives be different? Most of this Opening is being propagated in the space of government. From there, it is affecting all sectors of our society.
