What Can Be
I really do not like where the world is now.
Look Forward
When things in the present are not what we want them to be, we can look forward. To what we want to build or create that will be more aligned with what we want. This does not absolve us from living in the present moment, far from it. We start with the present, and from here do what we need to do to. We can keep our life going and still look to the future.
As we begin to think about what we want, our troubles and concerns fade a bit and do not take as much of our attention. That begins to ease our experience of them. Our world is bigger than the present moment. Yes, we may not be able to change or markedly affect things on a global scale right now. However, with our energy focused on creating a better future for our individual lives, it could lead, eventually, to global change.
We can throw in a bit of optimism as well. Although the world is moving in a difficult direction, we can still be hopeful. Optimism is not a positive view of the world alone. It is a mindset that change is possible and that situations can improve. With that mindset, we can start affecting the change we want to see in our own lives. If, for example, we are disheartened by the polarity and separation in our world today, we can reach out to others and create community. We could even reach out to those who think differently than us and find commonalities that lessen the polarity and separation that exists among us.
Is it challenging for you to look forward now? Is optimism elusive? Let’s talk and find the ways you can move forward.
Openings
Openings are doorways. By their very nature they make new things possible. Openings offering change are easier to see when we are looking forward with a positive mindset. Obstacles are more easily handled. We view ourselves and others in the best possible light.
When we are disheartened or stuck due to the events around us, we may not see Openings and be further disheartened. Pessimism is a downward spiral that catches us and makes it hard to let go. It lowers our resilience, creates stress, separates us from community and can lead to psychological strains. Something new may be waiting for us and we are missing it.
Openings can also open doorways that help us cope with the challenges we face and the world around us. They can bring insights, help us to pivot from our current state to a better one and create transformations. If we look clearly at the present moment and identify what we don’t like about it, we will know what we do want and can get started creating it.
Create It
Let’s look at our ability to create what we want in our lives. We can begin by identifying what is not working for us right now. Say we are deeply upset about the current state of our politics and country. We have options. We can take a step away and not focus as heavily on what is happening. We can address what is happening and make our voices heard. We can create more positive things in our lives to balance the things we are upset about.
We can then identify what we want to bring into our lives that will make our lives better. What is that for us? How can we get there? In doing so, things start to get better. We see a way out. We see possibilities. The negative things that are happening do not take up as much room in our lives. Once we begin, we are changed. We have a new purpose and are moving in a positive direction.
A New Energy
Even making the smallest positive change puts us in a new energy. The world looks different, even though it may not have changed at all. Our perspective has shifted. The world now has possibilities and Openings abound due to our efforts.
Might as well get started. What else is there to do? I don’t want to get caught in a downward spiral. I have the power to make my life better.
