Pushed Into Openings
Geez, that was intense. I feel as if I was pushed into this Opening!
The Wind Is Behind Us
Sometimes, we do not feel in control. Forces other than our own are present. When it comes to Openings, those other forces can be anywhere from gentle to gale force winds. They can knock us off balance or nudge us along. We have little opportunity to take time or even to stop. We must center amid whatever is happening and do the best we can.
The nature of the wind matters. We may have created it by resisting or ignoring an Opening before us. We may have gotten ourselves where we are by inaction and now an Opening is beckoning us strongly. We may have created the wind ourselves and now have to go with it. Circumstances around us may have changed or intensified and we must respond.
The wind has created a quickening. We must move, whether we are ready to or not. Perhaps we have a job offer, find ourselves pressed for time in making a change we are committed to, have compelling reasons to move forward or have been swept into a new situation. We feel the wind at our back and must choose where to go next.
Less Choice
As the wind pushes us, we have fewer choices. Things are moving and, within that context, we must choose how to go forward. The wind may have rearranged things and we must acclimate to our new surroundings quickly. We may have to rebalance and get back to our center. We may have to make a quick decision whether to go with the wind that is pushing us, get out of its way if we can or resist it.
With a forceful wind at our backs, we don’t always have time for planning or for taking our time in making our choices. We are being pushed. The pressure is on and asks us for a new approach. We must keep pace with the wind or be overtaken by it. As the wind comes we can create a sail to go with the wind. The sail is made for the conditions we are in and enables us to adjust to the wind in a positive way.
One important factor to acknowledge is that we have choice in every situation, even in gale force winds. We may not control the occurrence of all situations or events relating to an Opening, but we have choice in how we respond to them. Responsibility comes with acknowledging our power of choice. If we accept our power of choice, the buck stops with us. Our best choices are considered choices, even when we have little time.
➟ How are you with making choices? Do you find it challenging? Let’s look at acknowledging your power of choice.
Discerning
Discernment factors often when dealing with Openings. We must first be able to perceive a situation as it truly is and how it fits with our interests and circumstances. Discernment is not only about knowledge; it is about developing wisdom. It involves keen insight and judgement with which to evaluate situations. A focus on discernment helps us when the wind is pushing at our backs.
Here are some things to consider as we develop discernment:
- When we come up against an uncertain situation do we look carefully at all aspects and gain a true picture of what is happening?
- How developed is our insight and intuition?
- Are we clear on our values?
- Are we judgmental or do we exercise keen judgment when evaluating situations?
- Do we know how to balance our mind and emotions?
- Do we have ways to get to our center when we are stressed or overwhelmed?
- Do we trust ourselves when making choices or decisions?
- Have we learned from past experiences relating to Openings and applied those learnings to our current choices?
Going With The Wind
It certainly behooves us to travel with the wind at our backs guiding us rather than facing and resisting it. We can learn how to build our sail by acknowledging we have choice and developing our skill of discernment. As we do so, strong winds or not, we’ll sail into the Openings that serve us.
Whew! That was something. I have steadied now and the wind has served me.
