The Openings We Desire

My journey offers Openings and I accept the challenge of this. I embrace what appears, but also wonder if I can create Openings that lead me where I want to go.

The Nature Of Openings

This blog examines Openings. Openings create movement. They vary in type and intensity and are tailored to the next steps we can take in our individual journeys. We have choice when it comes to Openings – whether to embrace them or not. We have only begun to understand them.

In this blog, we often think that Openings appear magically before us. First, we see them and then we choose whether to walk through them. They beckon us to places we have not been before. They are quickenings on our journeys, saving us from stasis and inertia.

Is this really the case? What is the true nature of Openings? How much agency do we have in the process? Are Openings energies in their own right or do we have some impact in creating them? These are questions we will have to answer in time, as this blog progresses and we learn together. There is no textbook on Openings!

Discernment

Discernment is the ability to see the truth of what presents itself in our lives. A lack of discernment can hinder our journeys. If a person enters our lives that intends to harm us in some way, discernment can help us see. If an opportunity presents itself that can bring good things, we need to recognize that. Discernment is key in choosing whether to embrace an Opening.

➟ Discernment is a fascinating subject and essential skill. My New Directions Coaching  and Coaching For A New Era  programs, delve into discernment – how to develop it and how best to use it.

Discernment is often an acquired skill. We develop discernment as we experience life. Successes and failures inform us. The people we meet and things we experience feed our perspectives. Knowing our values is a key factor in developing discernment – are we honoring or neglecting our values when we make a choice?

Why does discernment matter? Discernment allows us to move forward. It allows us to set a direction that serves us and honor what we want in our lives. It saves unnecessary hardship and struggle. It allows us to grow and strengthen by learning from the events of our lives and the outcomes of our choices. Discernment eventually leads to wisdom.

What Is Our Role In Openings?

It is interesting to think about our role in the process of Openings. We know we have choice whether to walk through them or not. What other roles do we have? The nature of our journeys influences the Openings we encounter. And that nature is formed by how we live our lives, who we are and the choices we make.

Do we have control when it comes to Openings? Wanting control is often part of human nature but also something we should try to overcome. Uncertainty and risk are part of the magic of our lives and deserve to be embraced. Thinking we have a high level of control is probably an illusion. However, we can have some control, as we do have power in our lives.

Can we influence the nature of Openings that we encounter? Probably. Our decisions and choices set the direction of our lives. We choose how we respond to failure and disappointments. We choose the circumstances of our lives and how we live on Earth. All of these things impact the nature of Openings that present themselves.

Trying It Out

We are all exploring the nature of Openings in our lives. There is much to learn. We are asking what roles we have in creating the Openings of our lives and if we have any say in how they show up.

Let’s keep going. Try over the next few months to see if you can co-create an Opening. Think of an opportunity you desire. What needs to happen for this opportunity to present itself? There will be practical elements involved, no doubt, that you have some control over. Use your discernment as you pursue this.

Watch the need for control. Keep it in check. This is not about control. It is about agency. Pursue this Opening and see if it appears. Stay aware at every step of the process. See what’s possible.

Ha! I never thought about creating Openings for myself. Why not? I will give it a try and know that, no matter the outcome, I will learn and grow by doing so.
